Srinagar, Jun 18 (KNO): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Peerzada Bashir Ahmad, former Khateeb and Imam of the historic Haji Masjid Maisuma Srinagar, who had a long-standing close association with the Mirwaiz family. Paying tribute to the late scholar, Mirwaiz in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) acknowledged his decades-long contribution to religious preaching and community service. He noted that Haji Masjid has historically been a hub of religious guidance led by Mirwaizeen, including Mufassir-e-Qur’an Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah Sahib and Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq Sahib (RA). Terming Peerzada’s passing an irreparable loss, Mirwaiz extended heartfelt condolences to his sons — Peerzada Shabir Ahmad, Peerzada Ijaz Ahmad, and Peerzada Shaeq Ahmad — and prayed for maghfirah and high ranks in Jannah for the deceased, along with patience for the family and the mosque congregation. Mirwaiz also expressed grief over the demise of the noble wife of Muhammad Ashraf Shair of Hawal Srinagar — a close associate of the Mirwaiz family — and the passing of the elderly wife of noted poet and scholar Akhtar Mohiuddin of Lal Bazar. He prayed for Jannat for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families—(KNO)
